We can no longer ignore the fact, that we are finely "Going Green!" Green is frequently mentioned through old media outlets; news, radio, television. But it is through today's technology, via cyberspace, that our latest updates reach us at breakneck speed. We're inundated daily with eco-friendly messages 24/7/365. We've become interconnected, and interdependent through our cell phones, GPS's, iPods, PDA's (the BlackBerry has become a favorite with many techophiles), TV's, etc. Millions of Green messages and ideas come at us from all angles, and leave us with one question, "Where do I begin? How do I go Green?" We're so caught up in our everyday routines, that many of the simple steps, sidestep us. But, each step we take at Greening our lives, is a positive step forward in lessening our individual carbon footprint. "We can all make the world a better place today and for future generations." Soon, you too will be able to enjoy an eco-friendly lifestyle by "Going Green!"
For each action, there is a reaction. The "Law of Cause and Effect" is pronounced in our decision making as "The Big Picture" continues to unfold and we "Go Green!" Our actions, or inability to act in a positive manner, in relation to our space and place, here on the planet, will affect all of us. So, don't fool yourself, learn and educate others. Knowledge is power, and there is an abundance of Green knowledge pooling in the universe, right beneath our Blue skies. There are many handy informational guides available on all sorts of Green beginnings: water, whole unprocessed food, organic skincare based on natural plants, exercise workouts, gardening, design & building; homes/offices - decor & furnishings, cleaning, transportation, Green collar jobs, investing, weddings, community work, pet care, toys, science & technology, electronics & gadgets, and funerals. We must acknowledge the variables of our own personal existence, their alternatives and taking the first step in "Going Green!"
Whether your first step is recycling, or simply being conscious of energy consumption, it will be the beginning of the "Best of Your Life!" We may become easily confused in the information age that we live in, but take a look at your life and how you are living it. Check for efficiency of fuel consumption for both your auto and home, recycle clothing and wear organic cotton, buy fresh whole foods, keep lights out when not in use, and don't let water run needlessly down the drain. Remember this, "Each drop of water you waste, could be saving someone dying of thirst somewhere in the world!" Shifting away from the use of incandescent light bulbs, to the compact fluorescent type in areas that use coal to produce electricity, will reduce mercury emissions. But, on the other hand, those areas throughout the world that do not use coal to produce electricity, will have increased mercury emissions from the use of CFLs. Look for "Energy Star" products to conserve energy and save money, while protecting the environment.
We've have been trained to spend money on things we really don't need. Our excessive consumerism clutters our lives and fill our land fills. Ask yourself, "Why?" And here's the big lie, "I need this, and I'll die without it? Our planet is in peril, and we must all begin to act now, by buying less of the newly manufactured, and recycling, reusing, and redistributing what is already here. Begin in your home today, and go through each room, and begin removing the things that are just collecting dust by not being used or appreciated. Take those things and place them in boxes marked accordingly; GIVE (to friends and family), DONATE (to local churches or any other organization that can redistribute them to the needy), SELL (valuables can be eBayed).
Homemade gifts are well received throughout the year, and the effort that is put into them will be greatly appreciated. Turn your hobbies and personal collections into memorable gifts during holidays, and on special days. Whether you sew, build, crochet, or collect anything from coins and stamps to trolls; share a little extension of yourself with those who matter most, your friends and family. "Works of Art - Straight from the Heart" will Green the lives of others, as you rotate and recycle things each and every day!"
The days celebrated within various cultures, throughout the many countries that make up our world, mark both the historical and significant. "Celebrate them, but do it by challenging yourself to give from the heart, and not the wallet! Make an inexpensive healthy meal, and share that meal with those you love. The comfort of being surrounded by those who know you, and love you anyway, will make that meal not only delicious, but a delightful memory!" There isn't anything that money can buy, that will be able to replace those moments of friendship and family! So by every means, mark the day and celebrate, share your love and generosity, making those celebrations special. The time we share together on the planet, is the most valuable gift one can give, and or receive.
The good news about "Going Green" is that you as an individual have the power to choose. Your choices dictate the world we live in, and making better choices, begins to mend each other's lives here on our planet Earth. Since globalization causes the world to appear smaller, it becomes very easy to see how people’s lives everywhere are getting more in sync with one another. Preserving the rainforest, shortening the list of animals in extinction, clean air and water for all species, will be of benefit to us all. Everything we do as individuals has an impact upon not only today, but tomorrow. And, on a global level, it in turn affects our neighbors, people we don't even know, on the otherside of the world. Think globally, and act locally, commit to "Going Green!"
